How Giving Works

1

Your gift is received. All standard vehicles accepted — cash, check, securities, DAF grants, estate gifts, matching contributions.

2

Your gift enters the Legacy Fund, held under the Institute’s fiduciary governance, subject to independent audit.

3

Trustees review applicants — organizational health, program quality, survivor-centeredness, strategic fit, and capacity to deploy funds well.

4
Grants are awarded twice yearly through an application process.
5
Grantees report outcomes. The Institute verifies results and adjusts future decisions based on the data.
6
You receive an annual impact report — where your gift went, what it funded, what changed.

How We Make Grant Decisions

Every applicant is evaluated on:

  • Leadership — Experienced, mission-driven leadership with a clear vision
  • Financial Health — Sound financial practices and responsible stewardship
  • Survivor Outcomes — Evidence of meaningful, lasting impact in survivors‘ lives
  • Governance — Strong oversight, accountability, and ethical operations

Survivor-Centered Standards — Every organization we fund demonstrates trauma-informed survivor-centered practices that promote healing.

Investing Across the Continuum of Care — We invest where the gaps are the greatest. Whether expanding care for minors or men, strengthening addiction recovery or supporting long-term residential programs, we will address critical needs across the country.

Accountability — We believe donors deserve to know the difference their generosity is making.

  • Annual Impact Reports – Clear reporting on grants awarded and lives impacted
  • Outcome Measurement – Ongoing evaluation to ensure grants produce meaningful results
  • Financial Transparency – Independent oversight and responsible stewardship of every dollar
