How Giving Works
Your gift is received. All standard vehicles accepted — cash, check, securities, DAF grants, estate gifts, matching contributions.
Your gift enters the Legacy Fund, held under the Institute’s fiduciary governance, subject to independent audit.
Trustees review applicants — organizational health, program quality, survivor-centeredness, strategic fit, and capacity to deploy funds well.
How We Make Grant Decisions
Every applicant is evaluated on:
- Leadership — Experienced, mission-driven leadership with a clear vision
- Financial Health — Sound financial practices and responsible stewardship
- Survivor Outcomes — Evidence of meaningful, lasting impact in survivors‘ lives
- Governance — Strong oversight, accountability, and ethical operations
Survivor-Centered Standards — Every organization we fund demonstrates trauma-informed survivor-centered practices that promote healing.
Investing Across the Continuum of Care — We invest where the gaps are the greatest. Whether expanding care for minors or men, strengthening addiction recovery or supporting long-term residential programs, we will address critical needs across the country.
Accountability — We believe donors deserve to know the difference their generosity is making.
- Annual Impact Reports – Clear reporting on grants awarded and lives impacted
- Outcome Measurement – Ongoing evaluation to ensure grants produce meaningful results
- Financial Transparency – Independent oversight and responsible stewardship of every dollar
